Veppilai (வேப்பிலை) is the neem leaf. The neem tree, vembu (வேம்பு) in Tamil, is the botanical Azadirachta indica, a member of the mahogany family (Meliaceae), known in English as neem, margosa or Indian lilac. AVM Herbals’ Veppilai Powder is made from the leaf.

Leaf, flower, oil — not the same thing
Different parts of the neem tree are used in different ways. In Tamil Nadu the flowers are cooked into dishes such as vēppam pū cāṟu (வேப்பம் பூ சாறு), a rasam made from neem flowers, and neem oil is a separate product again. This page, and AVM Herbals’ powder, are about the leaf only. AVM’s own product page describes neem as the great bitter of Siddha tradition.
