A root known for its sweetness

The root is the source of liquorice’s sweet, aromatic flavour, which is why the plant is also used as a flavouring in confectionery and drinks well beyond India. In the Siddha kitchen and pharmacy the same root is simply called athimathuram. AVM Herbals groups it with other cooling herbs, and its product page states that it is prepared to the standards of the Siddha Pharmacopoeia of India, Part I.

In the AVM Herbals range

Athimathuram Powder is made from Glycyrrhiza glabra root. Its product page gives the directions for use and the pack size; please follow the directions on the pack. You will find it in the Cooling collection, and the Wellness Guide explains how the range is grouped by the three humours.

Liquorice root is not suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a health condition, please speak to a qualified practitioner before starting any herbal product.
